Our Team

The York Medtech team brings a wealth of industry knowledge, venture capital experience and know-how to investments in medical technology companies. Our Principals bring extensive industry networks and a proven investment track record to each portfolio company we work with. We have  practical experience  managing high growth technology companies from inception to liquidity on public markets and / or strategic sale.
 
John J. Connolly, BA, MBA, Managing Director
Prior to founding York Medtech Partners, John was a partner at MDS Capital Corp., Canada's largest health sciences venture capital company, where he led investments in early stage health science discovery and healthcare information technology companies. As an investor and subsequently as a member of the executive team John helped transform Systems Xcellence (TSE:SXC) into Canada’s most successful eHealth company. John has worked extensively in the healthcare information technology sector in association with CourtYard Group, Canada’s largest and fastest growing healthcare advisory company.

John brings a background of over 20 years senior management experience in business development, finance and international expansion in the healthcare, venture capital, and consumer products sectors. He has a successful track record of executing complex financial transactions, negotiating partnership agreements and closing private equity and debt financing rounds.  John has worked with high growth healthcare technology companies to successfully re-position their products, secure new markets, raise capital, establish clinical trials and acquire competitors.

John has a MBA from The Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario) and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.

Kenneth P.H. Pritzker, M.D., BSc (Med), FRCPC, Managing Director
Prior to joining York Medtech Partners, Dr. Ken Pritzker served as Chief, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto from 1986 to 2008 and subsequently as founder of Mount Sinai Services, a laboratory service outreach vehicle for the biomedical research and innovation sector. With over 240 scientific publications, Ken is a recognized leader internationally in the fields of arthritis, biomaterials, genomics and nanotechnology.
 
Throughout his career, Ken has served in leadership and advisory positions to national and international professional societies, research institutes and healthcare organizations. Ken brings over thirty years experience as consultant in the areas of strategic and operational advice for leading universities, health care institutions, pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotechnology corporations. Dr. Pritzker is  widely recognized as an innovator in clinical laboratory organization and management directed towards advancing patient centered clinical laboratory practice.

Ken is a graduate in Medicine from the University of Toronto from which he also has a Bachelor of Science (Medicine) degree in Pharmacology and received post graduate education in pathology at McGill University.
Dr. Pritzker is a fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Anatomical Pathology.

John R. Jordan, MBA, CMA, CPA, ABV, Director
Prior to founding York Medtech Partners, John held several positions as CFO of two subsidiaries of US public companies, LandCanada and FNF Canada.  In addition, he was the founding CFO of a Canadian financial services technology company which was acquired by Fidelity National Financial, Inc.  John started his career in public accounting and has worked with many companies in a variety of industries.

With more than 15 years experience working with entrepreneurs, John brings a wealth of "hands on" financial and operational experience. He understands what it takes to create and build successful technology businesses. John has a well rounded business knowledge with specific strengths in start ups, growth and acquisitions strategies, business valuations, and financial management.

John is a graduate of Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and Schulich School of Business, York University.  He is a member The Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, the American Institute of Management Accountants and  the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, John holds the AICPA specialty designation of Accredited in Business Valuations (ABV).

Laura Pritzker PhD, Associate
Laura Pritzker is a research scientist with 13 years laboratory research experience specializing in protein chemistry and cell biology.  She has practical knowledge of techniques in molecular biology, protein chemistry and cell biology and an extensive background in bioengineering, cell signaling, protein interactions and microarray technology. Laura has been a research fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children and at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute, both in Toronto and at The University of Washington in Seattle, WA. She is the recipient of multiple academic awards and the author of many peer reviewed scientific journal publications. Laura received her PhD in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from the University of Toronto in 2000.
